THE ONE thing I do like about winter are the spectacular sunsets. As a cold wind blew from the deserts of the south west the sun sank behind the city. The chill wind cleared away the drunks in the park to make way for the hardy photographers making the most of the spectacular colours as the sky darkened and the city illuminated.
The ugly steel hulk of the Storey Bridge standing since it was built during the depression years of the 1930s suddenly lit up in spectacular in front of the city turning the dark waters of the Brisbane River into a deep blood red colour to carry the commuter ferries zooming past.
The Brisbane Riverwalk was at the base of the cliff. Street lighting turned the riverwalk and the old port buildings into a sepia monotone creating a strange juxtaposition with the bright colours of the city.
