Tiny Train Station in Hokkaido

Tiny Train Station in Hokkaido

IN A remote corner of Hokkaido a little to the south east of Abashiri beside the sea of Okhotsk stands a tiny railway station. There are no towns or villages nearby, just a few farms and a beach of grey sand where the dull turquoise water breaks in large waves during summer, and the deep blue water carries ice floes during the winter made severe from the strong winds that blow from Siberia.

The tiny station provides shelter for anyone who would be catching the train from here, as one does pass through every day throughout the year.
